Dr. Yousef Al-Ebraheem

Yousef Hamad Al-Ebraheem is a prominent Kuwaiti economist who has held several ministerial positions, including Minister of Finance, Planning, Education, and Higher Education. He also served as an economic advisor at the Amiri Diwan until 2021.

He was the Dean of the College of Business Administration at Kuwait University and the Cultural Attaché at the Kuwaiti Embassy in Washington. He currently chairs the board of directors of Investcorp and is a board member of the Arab Open University, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, and the Economic Research Forum.

Al-Ebraheem was a member of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development, KFAS, KIMS, and the Gulf Arab States Institute in Washington. He played a leadership role in the Gulf Investment Corporation and Al Mal Investment Company.

He is actively involved in community work, supporting initiatives such as Injaz Kuwait and the Kuwaiti-American Alliance. He holds a PhD in Economics from Claremont University and has authored several publications.

Sara Akbr

 Sara Akbar is a Kuwaiti chemical petroleum engineer, women’s rights advocate, and co-founder and former chief executive officer of Kuwait Energy.Akbar is recognized as a “national hero” due to her involvement in the Kuwaiti oil fires which were later depicted in the Academy Award nominated documentary Fires of Kuwait. For her firefighting efforts, she was awarded the Global 500 Roll of Honour from the United Nations Environmental Program Akbar is one of the first women oil sector company executives from the Arabian Peninsula.She served as the director of the Society of Petroleum Engineers in 2007.

Abdulmajeed Alshatti

Abdulmajeed Al-Shatti is an independent economic consultant specializing in public policy, energy, finance, investment, and the economics of social media. He has held prominent positions in several Kuwaiti institutions, including membership in the Supreme Petroleum Council, the Board of Directors of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, the Commercial Bank of Kuwait, and the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait, as well as several other Kuwaiti companies. Additionally, he served as Chairman and Managing Director of the Commercial Bank of Kuwait and was elected Chairman of the Kuwait Banking Association. He also held the position of Vice Chairman of the Scientific Center.

Al-Shatti began his career at the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR), where he worked as a researcher before becoming Director of the Economics Department and later Acting Director of the Technical Economics Department. He then transitioned to the role of Deputy General for Operations at the Public Authority for Assessment of Compensation for Damages from the Iraqi Invasion. Throughout his career, he participated in numerous research studies and projects while working at KISR and Kuwait Petroleum Corporation. He was the coordinator of the “Kuwait Economy Study” in 1988, a joint project between KISR, Kuwait University, MIT, and Harvard University.

He was also a member of several national committees, including the National Committee for Studying the Implications of the 2008 Financial Crisis and the Advisory Committee formed by the Amiri Diwan to study the economic situation. Additionally, he contributed to committees within the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) and KISR, including serving on two selection committees for the Director-General of KISR.

Al-Shatti represented Kuwait in OPEC delegations during his tenure at Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and was part of Kuwait’s national delegations at multiple COP climate change conferences. He also participated in several high-level official delegations. Notably, he led a group of Kuwaiti volunteers alongside the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division during the Gulf War liberation.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Syracuse University and pursued graduate studies in Economic Systems Engineering at Stanford University. His current interests include environmental conservation, connecting with nature, photography, and spreading positivity.

Masoud Hayat

 Masoud Hayat is a prominent Kuwaiti economist and a board member since February 2001. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Kuwait University (1973) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Banking Sciences (1975). He occupies multiple leadership positions in the banking and investment sectors, including Chairman of the Board of Gulf United Bank in Bahrain, Banque de Tunisie et des Emirats, and Gulf Bank Algeria. Additionally, he serves as Vice Chairman at various banks, such as FIMBank in Malta and Bank of Baghdad in Iraq. He is also a board member of prominent investment companies, including KAMCO Investment Company and North Africa Holding Company.

Dr. Fawaz Al-Awadhi

Dr. Fawaz Mohammad Alawadhi is an Assistant Professor of Private Law at the College of Business Studies, and currently serves as the Chief Legal Officer and Acting Chief of Audit and Compliance at Alghanim Industries Group. He is also a Board Member of Gulf Bank and the Director of the Legal Affairs Department at the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET).

He holds a Doctor of the Science of Law (J.S.D.) from Washington University in St. Louis (USA), a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of California, Berkeley (USA), an MBA from London Business School (UK), and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Kuwait University. In addition to his professional duties, Dr. Alawadhi is actively involved in various community and academic activities. He serves on several committees and advisory legal bodies in Kuwait and acts as an accredited conciliator and arbitrator at the Kuwait Commercial Arbitration Centre. He has received numerous legal awards and recognitions across the Middle East, including being named among the region’s top chief legal officers for several consecutive years by The Legal 500, The Legal Era, and Biz Integration, as well as receiving professional excellence awards from Middle East Legal Awards and The Global Awards.

Farid Alfozan

A Kuwaiti businessman and active in social responsibility for individuals and companies. He is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of ‘Al-Fawzan Group for Trade and Contracting,Vice President of ‘Gulf Charity Group,’ and a Board Member of ‘Charity of Our Charity.’ He has over 25 years of experience in various sectors, including trade, real estate, and energy, and has served as President of ‘Leadership Organization’ in the Arab Youth Organization, Kuwait branch, between 2009 and 2019. He also served on the boards of several companies, including ‘Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait,’ ‘United Gulf Bank,’ and ‘Safi Gulf Holdings.’ He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Management from ‘University of Kuwait’ in 1988.

Taiba AlHumaidhi

Taiba Al-Humaidhi is a Kuwaiti businesswoman who embarked on her professional journey driven by her belief in the importance of taking initiative at all times and that the path to success is fueled by individual passion. This passion inspires her work and leads to innovative ideas. She founded the “Lei Wa Lakom” initiative to support women through mentorship and addressing issues such as mental health and financial management, reflecting her dedication to entrepreneurship and community empowerment.

Dr. Fatemah Al-Mousawi

Dr. Fatemah Al-Mousawi holds degrees in multiple fields, including Genetics (Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD from King’s College and Imperial College), Bioinformatics (from Birkbeck College), and a Master’s in Behavioral Science (from the London School of Economics).

Her primary interests focus on skills development and intelligence, with a strong passion for empowering youth to reach their full potential. She leads several community initiatives and has received numerous awards, including the Medal of Excellence for Youth Care from His Highness the Amir of Kuwait in 2014.

Dr. Merza Hasan

Dr. Mirza Hassan currently serves as a Senior Advisor at the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development and a member of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Kuwait. He is also a Fellow at the Institute for Environmental and Energy Management at George Washington University in the United States. He has a proven track record in international work, having previously served as Dean of the Board of Executive Directors of the World Bank Group and as a faculty member at the College of Business Administration at Kuwait University, in addition to holding leadership roles in governmental and academic institutions in Kuwait.
Dr. Mirza has over four decades of experience in the fields of economics, sustainable development, public sector reform, and human capital development. He has contributed to economic policy formulation and the promotion of international cooperation, participated in numerous international conferences, and has published books and peer-reviewed articles on economics, privatisation, institutional efficiency, and administrative reform. He holds a PhD in Management Sciences from Imperial College London.

Rana Al-Nibari

Rana Al-Nibari is a multi-sector leader with executive experience in finance, non-profit organizations, and professional development. She has led national training initiatives, youth empowerment programs, and complex development projects. Rana has served on boards and advisory committees in Kuwait and the region, offering expertise in governance, strategy, and institutional growth.
